The first individual fundraising campaign of Moonlight Foundation is finished

On 14 August from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. Moonlight Foundation, in cooperation with the Roda Supermarket of Subotica (Mercator-S d.o.o. Novi Sad), organized a fundraising campaign focusing on individual voluntary donations at the temporary outdoor Moonlight Club set up in the car park of the supermarket. The motto of the fundraising campaign was: It’s not for me – it’s for the children of Serbia.

The customers of the supermarket and other visitors of the outdoor Moonlight Club could play table tennis, table football, and darts with children, while at the hall of the supermarket visitors could take part in an active sport video game projected on two screens. Thirty-eight children and young volunteers from the Moonlight Clubs, several foundation members and parents, and the employees of the supermarket took part in the campaign.

According to Managing Director of Mercator-S Ms Vanja Mrđa the supermarket issued three thousand two hundred receipts that day which equals the same number of customers.

The result of the fundraising was assessed by a group of children and youth participating in the campaign before a committee formed by representatives of the supermarket, the foundation, and parents. The result assessed was one hundred and seven thousand dinars, of which the donation per one person was thirty-five dinars. Based on international norms according to which in similar cases it is expected that one person donates money in value of one glass of beer, and in view of domestic circumstances and donation practices, this amount can be considered satisfactory, since it approximates the expected result. Completing their first successful common campaign the management of Mercator-S and the Moonlight Foundation agreed about further cooperation.

The Foundation will use the fund raised on establishing a Moonlight Club in Mala Bosna for local primary-school children, as well as ensuring the funds for the grant funding of the second “Moonlight” grant cycle of the Foundation.

The ninth training workshop8-10 June 2010, Banja Luka

The ninth training workshop

We set off from Subotica to Banja Luja, to the venue of our ninth training workshop at dawn. Thanks to the good logistics of our journey, we only had to change once, in Novi Sad. We also crossed the border in Croatia without any tie-up. The bus tore along with us on the motorway, and we before long we realized we were already at the Bosnia border crossing, and soon after in Hotel Bosna in Banja Luka.

Workshop in “neutral zone”17-19 May 2010

Workshop in “neutral zone”

Our eight training seminar was held in Banja Vrućica. This was neutral zone in the sense that this time we didn't visit any of our sister day-care centres. We arrived on Monday afternoon following an over ten hours travel. After lunch we immediately joined the workshop which had already started. The topic was the mission and vision of child centres. We again dwelt on the issue of choosing the common name of child centres – again without any result. It is obviously serious matter, as we haven't been able to agree on it in eight months :-)
